WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO!There is always a lot going on behind the scenes at Tandem with approx. 250 Support Workers, 30 volunteers and over 30 office staff. Whether it is work, training or something weird and wonderful the Tandem Team has been up to outside of work hours, we thought we would share it with you.
Over two days in September, 25 Support Workers participated in Induction Training. Day One saw Support Workers participate in workshops on Social Role Valorisation and Strengths Based Approach, Epilepsy Awareness, Behaviour Management, Autism Awareness, CALD Awareness and an informative session from two clients and two Support Workers on their perspectives of working for and receiving respite from Tandem. The Day 2 sessions were a little more interactive and saw Support Workers having to practice their communication skills, practice brushing someone else's teeth and having someone bruch theirs and the same with eating a meal. The Support Workers learnt about OHS and Infection Control procedures as well as gained knowledge on professional boundaries. We would like to thank the Lions Youth Haven for allowing us to use their wonderful facility as well as all the presenters and staff who assisted with Induction Training. |
