A Patron is a well respected individual who is passionate and committed to the mission and vision of an organisation, and who can assist in raising its profile within the community. For this reason Tandem has chosen Gary Beck to take on this role.
Air Vice-Marshal Gary Beck AO (Retd)
Gary is Policy Manager with Canberra Business Council, a director on the Defence Housing Australia Board and is a member of the ACT Council, Save the Children Australia. He held a statutory appointment in the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for eight years as Director of War Graves where he was responsible for the official commemoration of Australia’s war dead and eligible deceased veterans. He also project managed the construction and dedication of new war memorials in nine foreign countries including the Australian War Memorial, London. He planned and conducted the Anzac Day services at Gallipoli each year during his time with DVA.
Gary had earlier concluded a long career in the RAAF as Commandant Australian Defence Force Academy. His two prior senior Defence appointments were Air Commander Australia and Chief of Air Force Personnel.
He lives in Canberra with his wife Julie and is keen to support Tandem’s continued growth through encouraging wider community sponsorship.
